WHO ARE THE SCREAM TEAM?

Our teaching teams are a mix of trained, industry professionals who provide our students with vast knowledge and experience in TV, Film and Theatre. The Scream team is selected using the ‘Scream Criteria’ of the 3 Es: Experience, Expression and Enthusiasm. The whole team helps to create an environment that only exists at Scream Theatre Schools.

All members of the Scream team hold current DBS checks – the modern successor to CRB disclosure.

HOW DO I JOIN SCREAM ACADEMY?

The first stage to joining Scream Theatre Schools is a 2-week trial held at our studios. These are designed to empower our students while providing an outlet for their voices in a safe space. Trials involve your child joining in the regular TV, Film and Theatre classes, allowing our teachers to spot talent and passion.

HOW MUCH DOES A 2-WEEK TRIAL COST?

Our trials cost £50 for the two weeks. You will meet new friends, develop skills and join in with the classes as normal – giving your child a chance to adjust to the settings and decide if Scream is right for them. The payment is charged when you complete the online application.

I WANT TO BOOK A TRIAL – WHAT DO I DO?

We’re happy to hear you want a trial period with us! Please head to our ‘TRY SCREAM’ page and complete the Application Form. You will receive an email confirmation with all of the details after completion.

JUNIORS (2-5) are held Wednesday 4pm – 6pm & Saturday 9am – 11am
YOUNG PERFORMERS (6-10) are held Wednesday 4.30pm – 7.30pm & Saturday 10am – 1pm or 1.30pm – 4.30pm
PERFORMERS (11-18) are held Wednesday 4.30pm – 7.30 pm & Saturday 1.30 – 4.30 pm

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR FOR MY TRIAL?

As you will be moving and dancing during this session, please wear comfortable and loose clothing. Soft shoes, plimsolls, trainers and tracksuits are ideal for our classes.

HOW WILL I FIND OUT IF I’M SUCCESSFUL?

After your trial ends, all teachers and the School Principal will band together and give feedback on what they believe is the best outcome. Our tutors are industry professionals at spotting talent and have a deep understanding of the class dynamics – at the end of the day, we want you to fit in here! We will send you an email (please check your spam and junk folders!) within one week, hopefully inviting you to Scream full-time!

DO STUDENTS TAKE EXAMS?

Students at Scream Theatre Schools may take optional examinations, during some of our terms, dependent on the curriculum (exams are optional as examination fees are payable. We offer a fully rounded training of a professional standard. Our workshops are full to the brim with high quality teaching with a heavy dash of fun! Outside the Triple Threat Academy, we offer one-to-one LAMDA and vocal lessons. DO STUDENTS TAKE PART IN PRODUCTIONS?

We have several key dates that feature in the school’s calendar, every year, including our biannual highly successful OSCARS acting showcase and competition, as well as our end-of-year Presentation Day, all of which offer our young students the chance to demonstrate their talents and skills to a wider audience. Previous productions include Scream Breaks the Internet, Billy Elliot- The Musical, The World of Roald Dahl and Heroes & Villains. Our productions do carry an entry fee of £30.00 – £35.00 for every student.

DEALING WITH BULLYING

We take equality extremely seriously at our schools and ensure all students are happy and comfortable when with us. A significant contributor to bullying is clothing, and we negate that with our uniform rules. If you are accepted into our school, you will be required to wear our Scream Theatre Schools t-shirt as a minimum uniform requirement. This helps maintain balance among students, ensuring that everyone is dressed the same and cannot be picked on. Our teachers are observant and will not leave any children behind or exclude them from activities and will shut down any bullying the second it emerges.

Paying for Scream

At Scream Theatre Schools, the cost of a term is £336.00. Broken down, this is a little over £9.00 per hour. Payments are made in 2 equal instalments of £168.00 for a full 12-week term. If you join during a term you will only pay for the remaining weeks within that term.

Our accounts team will then be in touch with your first invoice, this will be calculated at the number of weeks left in the term your child joins us. They will also send a direct debit link which must be activated within 48 hours.

IS IT GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY?

We believe that our fees accurately reflect the high standard of training that our students gain from our experienced industry professionals and are in line with other theatre schools. This is also similar to other schools that charge per 35-minute lesson, whereas, at Scream Theatre Schools, it proportionately works out at just over £9.00 per hour!

WHAT IS THE COMMITMENT PERIOD?

We would like all students to commit to a minimum of a 12 week term. Our ethos is that we ‘Create Confident Children’. We can only do so with commitment and dedication to the training. Give us a year and we can give your youngster the confidence and skill set to take on the world.

IS THERE A COOLING OFF PERIOD?

The trial is acts as the ‘assessment’ session(s) for your child. We class this as your cooling off period. It is your choice whether you go ahead and accept the place (if offered) but please ensure you are aware of your obligations if you proceed.

MY CHILD HAS JOINED BUT IT ISN’T WORKING OUT.
 WHERE DO I STAND?

Firstly, we understand some youngsters have 
difficulties adapting to new 
environments or joining established groups, this is human nature! We ask that you make us aware of any problems and we can iron these out. Stick with it! We’ll help! Secondly, if you have had your Assessment, accepted a place and joined. You can, however, exit at the end of a term, we would just require all weeks that your child has held a place at the school to be paid for, a final invoice will be sent highlighting any payment.

DO YOU OFFER A SIBLING DISCOUNT?

Yes! We offer a 25% discount for the second child, third child etc. from the same-parent families.

IS THERE A REGISTRATION FEE?

There is a £15.00 Registration Fee that applies to all students. You will
hear more about this in your welcome pack if you are successful.

IS MY CHILD SAFE AT SCREAM THEATRE SCHOOLS?

Your child’s safety is of paramount importance to us and your child will always be overseen by a member of the Scream team who has an up-to-date DBS check (the new-style Criminal Record Bureau).
