Summer School 2024 – Blackpool

Our Summer School is designed for artists aged 6-15 of all experience levels to access professional training. Over two exhilarating weeks, you will receive 60+ hours of workshops – giving you the skillset to prepare and perform songs and learn rehearsal techniques to succeed in auditions.It’s recommended to book early to avoid disappointment – there are limited places for this opportunity.
The first week will involve you engaging in workshops with our industry tutors Anthony and Vinani. Both hold degrees in Musical Theatre and have performed under Olivier Award-winning directors and Disney feature films respectively. Over the first 30 hours of training we will cover:

Vocal Techniques

Sight Reading

Improve Dance Techniques

Physical Stamina and Strength

Develop Connections With Characters

Rehearsal Techniques

The second week sees the ensemble moving full-speed ahead to the showcase production. Our tutors will direct and inspire creativity as you improve on your ability to take direction and choreography practises. Your understanding of the rehearsal process as part of a group will significantly improve over the next 30 hours of training, focusing on the triple-threat skills you have learnt over the past week.The showcase production is a unique chance to perform to a live audience. Friends and families are invited to watch the fantastic production, fronted by the acting school that Screams talent across the UK.

About your tutor:

Tutor Ashley Luke LloydAshley Luke Lloyd

Ashley Luke Lloyd was born in Blackpool and attended school at Bispham High School Arts College. He also attended classes at Scream Theatre Schools and is represented by Red Door Management.

Ashley started acting at a young age performing in various advertising commercials including Kinder Egg and playing child lead “Poor Baby” in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s UK touring production of Whistle Down The Wind. He then went on to play the role of Michael in Billy Elliot the Musical. After leaving the West End, Ashley had small roles in many British television shows including Waterloo Road, The Royal, Hollyoaks and he played Zak in I Could Never Be Your Woman, alongside Michelle Pfeiffer and Paul Rudd. In 2012 Ashley appeared in Loserville: The MusicalLloyd made his first leading role in a movie in the film Gingerclown 3D (2013), in which he played Sam Tulley alongside Tim Curry, Sean Young and Lance Henriksen.

Ashley has also performed in the international tour of Mamma Mia! and Webber’s Jesus Christ Superstar. More recently he has also worked on award winning West End musical Dreamgirls at the Savoy Theatre.

Vinani Mwazanzale Mini Movers Coach

Vinani has trained extensively in dance, acting and singing from an early age and graduated from The Urdang Academy in London with a BA (Hons) degree in Dance and Musical Theatre in 2019.

Since being a young performer, she has worked closely with Scream Management and is now proudly represented by Red Door Management. Vinani has gained roles in professional productions on stage and screen, including the live-action remakes of Disney’s Aladdin (2019) and Cinderella (2021).

Vinani has great experience teaching and assisting various choreographers and feels passionate about passing on her wealth of knowledge to today’s young performers.

FAQs

Our summer school can be booked as individual days, a single week or both weeks, all bookings must be made in advance. We recommend that participants attend as many as possible as the two weeks build to our showcase on the last Friday. Show time is 4pm and we invite friends and family to come along and watch the production.

Please note all bookings are final and refunds are not permitted.
