Coronation Street Role secured for Scream Student

A LYTHAM schoolgirl is trading the seaside for the cobbles after landing a leading role in Coronation Street.

Ella-Grace Gregoire, 13, will play a character called Grace who causes mayhem in Weatherfield, as a manipulative teenager who wraps the adults round her little finger.

It is the first role for Ella-Grace who had never acted before being talent spotted at Blackpool’s Scream Theatre School, nine months ago.

The Carr Hill pupil said: “It was amazing. I am such a massive fan of Coronation Street, it’s my favourite show ever – I even go on the internet looking for spoilers I’m that sad!

“When I got the audition I was just like ‘Wow!’ Then I couldn’t believe it when I got the part. Now I am mixing with all the other actors who I have been watching for years. It’s a bit mad when they just  say ‘Hi’ to me.

“They are so friendly and nothing like their screen characters. It’s an amazing place.”

Ella-Grace had never acted until she went to an open day at Scream Theatre School, in Blackpool, where a visiting casting agent from their sister company Scream Management spotted her potential.

She said: “I saw an ad in the paper and went along to an open day. I enjoyed it so I did some workshops and classes and then I was offered a place on their management agency.”

A spokesperson for the school said: “We have visiting casting agents who are always looking out for new talent. And Ella-Grace was spotted instantly.”

Scream Theatre School will be holding another Open Day for anyone aged 6 to 18 yrs at their Blackpool venue on September 7. For more information

Since being on Screams books Ella-Grace, has worked on a pilot for CITV and has been shortlisted for lead roles in Walt Disney’s Little Red Riding Hood, and Sam Mendes’s West End production of Charlie and The Chocolate Factory.

Senior Kids Agent, Jess Bell, of Scream Management, based in Media City, Salford, said: “We are all so delighted that Ella-Grace has landed the role in Coronation Street. She is a real talent and we’re all looking forward to seeing her on the cobbles.”

A Coronation Street spokesperson said: “Ella’s character comes across as all loveliness when she first arrives, but she knows how to wrap the adults round her finger and is soon causing trouble.

“She is introduced as a friend of Faye, but Faye’s mum is instantly wary of her and suspects she is up to no good. Before long she is getting Faye into a lot of trouble.”

Ella-Grace’s first episode is due to air on September 13.
